What is the story behind DERPY_AF and Derpy Dave?
The Short Answer
Derpy Dave began as a drawing created in 2020 by a 12-year-old. That character became the foundation of a cultural and entertainment brand that celebrates individuality, humor and the underestimated. DERPY_AF is its official streetwear and merch line. DerpyDave.xyz is home to the wider brand, and derpyaf.xyz is where you shop the merch.
Chapter 1: The drawing
It starts simple: a drawing, a 12-year-old and the year 2020.
Derpy Dave's purple face and tongue-out grin aren't trying to be anybody's polished ideal. The character leaves room for awkward, playful and a little ridiculous.
That's the part we want to keep. You can have a personality without sanding down every weird edge first.
Chapter 2: The feeling
You don't need anyone else's backstory to know the underdog feeling. Maybe you're the quiet one in a loud room. Maybe you're the loud one who keeps getting told to calm down. Maybe your biggest win today was showing up in matching shoes.
Derpy Dave’s message has room for all of that: “We Look Different. We Act Different. We Win Anyway.”
It's an attitude, not a test. There's no bar to clear before you get to enjoy the character.
Chapter 3: The wearable side
DERPY_AF turns the character and his point of view into streetwear and merch.
The Classic Derpy_AF Tee, the Derpy_AF Hoodie and the rest of the lineup are different ways to bring that connection into everyday life. Pick what suits your taste, your needs and your budget.
The clothes aren't an entry fee. They're just there for people who want something from the brand they can actually hold onto.
Chapter 4: Two sites, one story
DerpyDave.xyz is home base for the character, the cultural brand and the community. derpyaf.xyz is all about the merch.
The wider project also includes a token, but you don't need it to enjoy the character or buy a shirt. The brand should make sense to someone who has never opened a crypto wallet.
Start wherever you're curious. Follow the art, read the story, enjoy the jokes or browse the shop.
A couple of follow-up questions
Does DERPY_AF have a different origin from Derpy Dave?
No. It grows out of the same character and the same story.
Does buying merch make me an investor?
No. Buying merch gets you the product you ordered. It doesn't give you any token ownership or promise any financial return.
